What is SASHA?

Students Against Sexual Harassment & Assault (SASHA) is a welfare society within Leeds University Union, advocating for change by raising awareness and campaigning against sexual assault and rape culture in universities and wider communities.

What do we do?

Throughout the year, SASHA organises events, workshops, and initiatives aimed at creating safer spaces through education, outreach, and welfare support. Our goal is to amplify survivors’ voices and foster a culture on campus that actively opposes sexual violence and its normalisation.

SASHA's rebrand (and mascot!)

SASHA began its journey in 2021, and in just three short years, we’ve experienced incredible growth. From a small student group to a thriving community in Leeds, we’ve built strong networks not only within our university but across the UK.

As SASHA has grown, so too have our mission and the feelings that drive us. We’ve evolved from just raising awareness to actively pushing for change, improving support systems, and creating lasting, positive cultural shifts. Our goals have expanded, our reach has widened, and with this, we felt it was time to reflect this progress with a new look, a fresh identity, and an updated approach as we head into 2024.

As we continue to grow, we are excited to bring more people into the conversation, empower more survivors, and continue challenging the status quo. The rebrand marks a new chapter in SASHA’s journey!
